These are the basic naming rules for warrior names. If you are defending a warrior name, please do not use examples from the books, especially those from the third and second series. The names have grown wild and many brake rules. Thank you.
- Moon, sun and star are not allowed in warriors names. Star is only acceptable if the cat is a leader, and only at the end of the name. Moon and Sun are sacred.
- A medicine cat name doesn't need to have -leaf, or any sort of herb in the name. Medicine cat names are based upon the same rules as warrior names. (This occurs often)
- Spirit, soul, ghost, phantom, etc. are not to be used in names. They too are considered sacred.
- A prefix is not given to a warrior because of their eye color. Eye color is not displayed until a few weeks after birth, because their eyes are closed at first and for a couple weeks afterwards, they are blue.
- Likewise, a prefix is not given based upon personality. Personality doesn't show until weeks after the kit is born, and a queen wouldn't wait weeks to name the kit.
- Prefixes are normally given because of fur color or size.
-If the cat lives near a moonstone, the suffix -stone should not be used. Likewise, if the cat lives near a moonpool, the suffix -pool should not be used.
- If the name is a rename, there needs to be a good reason for it being one. Renames are normally not disrespectful, but this doesn't always apply.
The following rules apply to all of the boards in this section (as well as the sitewide rules);
- Be prepared to have your name challenged. We'll offer suggestions to try to help you, and ask questions. All you have to do is answer them sufficiently.
- Please don't use examples from the books, especially the second and third series. The names have grown wild and don't make sense anymore. The books themselves would be much better if the names improved overall.
- When posting your names for the first time, please do not include a history or description; these will not be looked at. After someone responds, you may post some history and description aslong as it applies to why the cat was named as such.
- The keyword is little. Please include this word at the bottom of the first post in your thread requesting a name rating or name help. This is so we know you read the rules.
